Oh, dang. November. So glad that’s over! I had been innocently cruising along on a nice little running streak since Oct. 19th, and then BOOM! I got sick on Nov. 19th. Being the type of person who never gets sick, I assumed I’d be back to normal in no time, but alas, this one hit hard. It was one of those yucky colds that just settled into my lungs, and so I spent the next month coughing, coughing, and more coughing.
December 1st, a cold rain poured outside, but I headed out for a run, determined not to let my illness follow me into the next month. My body disagreed with that decision, and that run turned into another fever and two more weeks of coughing. Bad idea. So, December 19th, 1 full month after my run streak ended, I started over. Again. 20 minutes on the treadmill. Blah, blah, blah.
My body is super responsive to both exercise and diet, which works in my favor when things are going well. Conversely, when I take time off, I am reduced to an energy-less blob of sloth. Where once I ran 2 hours without much thought, I now struggle to tick off 20 minutes at a time. But I know the drill. I just have to wade through this swamp…again…and soon I’ll be running like a champ.
Lungs, don’t fail me now. The coughing thing is over. It’s not you, it’s me. I just want to be friends. I think our germs should see other people. I’m breaking up with you. Buh- bye.
